Patrick Bamford has signed with Sheffield United only half a year following leading derogatory chants targeting the team's coach, Chris Wilder.

This experienced striker, without a club since leaving Leeds, has put pen to paper on a agreement with the Championship strugglers until January. Bamford's lengthy spell at Elland Road concluded through agreement this past summer.

Among Bamford’s last memorable actions while at Leeds was to lead offensive songs about Wilder during Leeds' promotion party in April. Now, the former England player is set to play under Wilder as the Blades’ manager aims to lift the team he loves away from the relegation zone.

Past History Involving the Striker and Wilder

The pair had previous conflict prior to Leeds moved up back to the Premier League the previous campaign and United were defeated in the playoff final to Sunderland. The manager described the forward as “a muppet” when the situation was different during the 2018-19 season and Sheffield United secured direct promotion whereas Leeds United fell short in the playoffs.

Making Amends and Moving Forward

Everything appears to have been put behind them with Sheffield United, the Championship’s lowest scorers, urgently requiring of a boost up front and Bamford hoping to revive his career.

The song about Wilder spread widely in April. A repentant Patrick and the Leeds manager, Farke, called the Sheffield United manager the next day.

“We spent a short while and the same again I spoke to Daniel as well and had a half-hour chat together and he is a great person, a class act. I am cool with the situation and I said that to Patrick.”

Bamford made 18 appearances for Leeds in the previous campaign but the former Forest, Chelsea FC & Middlesbrough player has faced difficulties with fitness issues over the past few seasons.
