Franchise leads Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to appear in the new Hunger Games series movie, Sunrise on the Reaping.
Reports indicate that original stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are returning to their iconic characters in the latest chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The project is now in the works.
A Significant Reunion for Fans
The duo are slated to play Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the roles they originated. It is believed their appearance will likely occur in a future-set scene, given that the main film series concluded with their characters living in peace.
This signifies the sixth film in the global Hunger Games franchise.
Exploring the New Story
Sunrise on the Reaping is based upon a newly published work by author Suzanne Collins. It acts as the second film set before the original story after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Once again is Francis Lawrence, who directed nearly all the previous films in the series.
The Plot and New Cast
The film's events are set roughly two decades prior to the first Hunger Games, spotlighting a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, destined to become Katniss's mentor, is featured as a tribute in the deadly 50th Hunger Games.
The supporting roles feature several prominent actors in key parts:
- Jesse Plemons will portray Plutarch Heavensbee.
- Ralph Fiennes takes on the part of a younger version of the menacing President Snow.

Separately, Jennifer Lawrence stars in the film Die My Love. Josh Hutcherson is part of the hit horror film Five Nights at Freddy's 2.
